TMJ
Do you suffer from headaches? Do you have pain in your face, jaw or teeth? Does your jaw pop or click when opening or closing? These can be signs of TMJ dysfunction.
The “temporomandibular joint”, more commonly referred to as the “jaw joint” assists us in the basic opening and closing movements of the jaw. Some people have a malocclusion (improper bite) that will force their jaws to close in an unhealthy manner. This can cause swelling, and deterioration of the jaw joints, and can even refer pain into the head, neck, ears, sinuses, or teeth. Temporomandibular dysfunction is often referred to as “the great imposter” because it can mimic the pain and discomfort of so many other ailments.
We offer a TMJ evaluation where we can examine films of your jaw joints, and evaluate your symptoms to determine if you suffer from TMJ dysfunction. There are treatments available to alleviate your discomfort and to redirect the positioning of your jaw joint.
